The basic character:

The End of Days character is described by physical and mental stats  and various skills and skill levels they posses.  The basic game   engine is derived from Classic Traveller .    Stats range from 1-15, with 7 representing the mythical average man. Stats effect total hit points and have an indirect impact on some  skills.  Where appropriate, and when there is not specific skill,   stats may determine a character's ability to do something, resist   something, etc.

The basic success/failure roll is made on 2d6 is 8+.  In the event a stat roll is made, the stat DM is derived as STAT - 7 = DM.  For   example, if the character was forced to make a roll against strength,   and possessed a strength of 7, the basic roll to succeed would be 8+   (DM of 0) and ignoring any other DMs.  If the same character had a  strength of 10, he would have a stat DM of +2, and thus would require  a roll of 6+ on 2d6 for the same success roll of 8+.

Characters are built form a point pool. The GM will determine the total number of points eaxch player may use to build their character. The point pool may be used to buy both skills and stats. All characters must have a value of at least '1' for every STAT. There is no requirement for any skills. Buying skills or stats increases in cost as the level increases. No human character may have a STAT of more than 15, and skills should not exceed 4 unless approved by the GM.

A basic character is generally built around a point pool of 60. This represents an slightly above average character. The GM may allow larger point pools at their discretion, with 75 represents a fairly powerful character (elite military for example).
